Individual Counseling
Individual counseling is provided as a one-on-one interaction for those students needing to resolve problems, undertake new tasks, or explore concerns that may be interfering with their school success.
Individual counseling that is provided at the school level is intended to be short-term and action oriented. If the student continues to have difficulties, a referral can be made to an outside mental health provider or appropriate community resource for long-term counseling. Request for individual counseling services can be made by a student, parent, or teacher.
A student may see the counselor in the following ways:
* Request- student may stop by the counseling office to make an appointment or come during their lunch/nesting period.
* A teacher may send the student directly to the counselor
* A parent may request that the counselor speak with the student.
Possible reasons for seeing the counselor:
Students:
Just to say hi or schedule a lunch
Having trouble controlling anger
Trouble with organization
Friendship difficulties
Not feeling like yourself (sad, upset, worried, etc)
Bullying concerns
Parents:
Attendance concerns
Child has trouble with their friends
Bullying concerns
Child is not meeting academic success
